What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you a good team player, looking to join a thriving, friendly school and assist in the guidance and mentoring of pupils who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning and to achieve their full potential?

About Gladstone Road Primary School

Here at Gladstone Road Primary school, we provide a friendly and inspirational education setting for our staff and children. As a four-form primary school you join the largest primary team (in the area) who will support and challenge you in your practice.

Set in a historic school in the heart of Scarborough, we are very much an extension of local families and communities, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer more than just ‘schooling’.

Being part of #teamgladstone means you will be part of a forward thinking, evolving, individual school.

We welcomed our experienced Headteacher in January 2020 and since then, have overhauled our curriculum, leadership structure, provision, and learning environments, which we recently celebrated with a 'Good' Ofsted report in July 2023.We have a committed, talented and cohesive staff, delightful children and strong and supportive Governors – every one of us united to build a school we can all be proud of.

The role will involve supporting the attendance team to challenge poor attendance and punctuality by sending letters, phoning parents, conducting home visits and conducting panel meetings with parents as part of the monitoring process. Full training will be given.

The successful candidate will support our vulnerable pupils who need support through Early Help by identifying the needs, meeting parents and implementing action plans

to overcome barriers, signposting and referring to external services as appropriate. Full training will be given.

You will have experience of providing one-to-one or small group support with the more challenging pupils who are having performance, attendance or behavioural issues that are affecting their learning, to help them overcome the barriers to learning and improve their education. You will have experience of working in a classroom, adapting the activities to meet the individual's needs as assessed.

You will:

Be able to support in the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for all pupils
