What skills and experience we're looking for

Looking for a role that allows you to make a positive impact?

St Augustine’s Catholic School is looking for Learning Mentors to join their pastoral team. You will collaborate with teachers and other support staff to address the needs of students who need to overcome barriers to learning, inside and outside the school. To encourage raised attainment through home learning/coursework, by working in partnership with teachers, parents and students to improve levels of completion. To work closely with Academic, Pastoral, and Safeguarding staff in all aspects of their role. This an opportunity to help shape the educational experience of students.

Leading by example: To show, at all times, a personal commitment to treating all students and colleagues in a fair and respectful way, which gives positive regard to people’s differences and individuality (for example, gender, gender identity, nationality or ethnic origin, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age). Assists in ensuring equal access to services and employment opportunities for everyone and promotes the School’s Equal Opportunities in Employment Policy.

What the school offers its staff

St Augustine’s is a fantastic school, our children are exceptional and our staff work extremely hard to ensure students reach their potential.

We strive for excellence in all things, and our Catholic Ethos is central to our way of life in the school.

Each child is seen and respected as an individual. We believe in equity of opportunity. We aim to provide the very best learning opportunities where students are challenged, inspired and encouraged to flourish.

I believe that we, as staff of St. Augustine's, are here to serve our children.

In turn we expect our students to try their very best at all times and respect others at all times.

Together we are building the future communities we will all enjoy.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school if you feel that St Augustine’s is the right place for you.

Aishling Robinson

Head of School

St Augustine’s success over the last 3 years has seen us become oversubscribed, invest heavily in our staff development and celebrate sustained results and outstanding pupil progress. We take from right across the coastal area which makes us a truly diverse school community.

Although we may be a smaller than average school (607 on roll) we certainly think big – and our calm and purposeful ethos of learning is frequently commented on from our school community and visitors. Staff know our students well and together we form a cohesive community.

Due to the quality of CPD, colleagues that support each other and a sense of fun and enjoyment we have seen our staff stay and develop – and as such our school has low staff turnover and high staff retention.
