Learning & Progress KS1 job summary
As part of the ongoing development of our service, we are seeking Learning and Progress Support workers with a strong commitment to social inclusion and improving learning outcomes for vulnerable children. Learning and Progress post holders work in class supporting pupils to access education through learning support and by supporting social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will be directed and supported by experience EYFS/KS1 Alternate Provision teachers and support staff. Children will access an experiential curriculum, personalised to their needs. They also access regular Thrive and SALT sessions which you will support.
You will spend part of week support in class at First Base, in a maximum class size of 6 pupils. You will then spend time supporting the pupils in their mainstream settings for outreach sessions. You will work collaboratively with mainstream colleagues, enabling you to make a real difference in the educational journey of our vulnerable learners.
You will:
provide high quality classroom support
contribute effectively to planning and preparation of learning activities and resources as required
have relevant experience or experience within a mainstream setting
be able to demonstrate effective behaviour management strategies
be a good team player
demonstrate a positive attitude towards all stakeholders
be flexible, resilient and calm under pressure
have the ability to build positive working relationships with young people
have GCSE English and mathematics at Level C or above (or equivalent).
As part of the Raedwald Trust Team, you will support pupils in-centre during the school day, communicate with families and outside agencies, and enable inclusion within community schools via advisory role during outreach sessions.
Access to personal transport is essential as you will be delivering outreach sessions in pupils’ mainstream schools and may at times be required to work across other settings within the Trust.
Full and part time hours will be considered.
Please note this is a casual position on a fixed term contract.
