Learning Resource Centre Manager job summary
Empowering Independent Thinkers in the Heart of the Cotswolds
Our Learning Resource Centre is the engine room of student inquiry. It's a space where a Year 7 student finding their first favourite author sits right alongside a Year 13 student researching for their A levels.
Why This Role Matters (About the Role)
You are not simply a custodian of books; you are the architect of our school’s independent study culture. If you walked into our Learning Resource Centre at 10am on a normal Tuesday, you would find a beautiful, well-resourced environment filled with students eager to learn. As our Learning Resource Centre Manager, your daily presence ensures this space remains a calm, structured, and inspiring hub that directly supports classroom learning and develops lifelong research skills.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Experience)
Expertise in Literacy and Research: Experience in managing library systems, cataloguing, or directing structured study environments.
A Collaborative Mindset: The ability to partner with curriculum leaders to align resources with our academic projects and reading programs.
Strong Positive Behaviour Management: A calm, authoritative presence that maintains a purposeful and respectful atmosphere during independent study periods.
Digital Confidence: Ability to manage modern digital learning resources, e-library systems, and study technologies.
Alignment with Our Values: A commitment to creating an inclusive space where we achieve our shared vision of Everyone Belonging, Everyone Achieving.
The “Why Us” Difference (The Professional Promise)
A Truly Valued Environment: Our Learning Resource Centre is structurally central to our academic strategy, heavily utilised by all year groups, and fully supported by senior leadership.
Professional Agency: We trust your expertise to develop the space, curate the collection, and run literacy initiatives that match our community’s needs.
Workload-Sensitive Culture: We respect your operational time, providing clear routines and structured student supervision support during peak hours.
The RLT Connection (Our Shared Foundations)
"Education has the power to change lives... we are better, faster, stronger together."
At Chipping Norton School, we are proud to be part of the River Learning Trust. Joining us means you gain the operational security of a large, stable organization alongside the unique character of our school community:

Shared Growth: Funding pathways for role-specific qualifications, professional certificates, and apprenticeships.
The Whole Person: Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, occupational health support, and a commitment to working practices that respect your life outside of work.
