What skills and experience we're looking for
Cove School has been graded ‘Good’ in all four categories by Ofsted and has a well-resourced SEND department which offers high quality provision to meet the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We also have a Resourced Provision Unit for Hearing Impaired (HI) students. We have a part time Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) and a Learning Support Assistant who works very closely with the TOD.
Required for immediate appointment, we are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Learning Support Assistant, who has high aspirations for all students. We want a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing the highest standards of care, support and education to our students. Someone with a can-do attitude and commitment to young people and the SEND team at Cove School.
Within this role the successful candidate will be required to work with and support students who have additional needs within the ‘broad areas of need’ as outlined in the SEN code of practice 2015; Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, emotional and mental health difficulties and Sensory and/or physical needs.
The successful candidate will be required to work with young people in order to help them to develop into independent learners to ensure they make good progress with their learning, as well as emotional and with regards to their well-being. As part of the roles and responsibilities you will support students to access tasks and activities that they find challenging both inside the classroom, as part of 1:1 intervention or within a small group situation.
Cove School is a happy and thriving place to work with close links to the local authority and we are relentlessly focused on achieving the highest standard of education for all the children in our care.
