Learning Support Assistant 1:1 child with ASD job summary

We are searching for a key Learning Support Assistant to join our staff. This post will be supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder Job Purpose: • To assist the class teacher in providing a learning environment that enables all children to access the curriculum and learn to the best of their ability. Key Accountabilities: • To support Education Heath Care Planning meetings as well as annual review and transition meetings. • To contribute to the development of a personalised learning programme of interventions to support the child’s progress towards the agreed outcomes arising from such reviews. • To compile written reports on aspects of the child or young person’s social, emotional, educational progress and development. • To contribute to assessment procedures, statutory and non-statutory, and providing advice on appropriate provision for children and young people. Knowledge and experience Knowledge and experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs. Knowledge and experience of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) would be an advantage Experience of working with children with communication challenges Knowledge and experience of using ICT to support children with Special Educational Needs. Wide, detailed and experience based SEN knowledge encompassing learning styles, methods, approaches, strategies and interventions used for teaching children with special educational needs. Ability to differentiate/adapt programmes of study to meet individual learning needs.
