Great Hockham Primary School is looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly and happy team in September 2025. The successful candidate will support the professional work of teachers as directed.

This role will be supporting a number of students with a range of special education needs in Year 5 and Year 6 to make excellent progress academically, socially and emotionally. 

Great Hockham Primary School is a member of the Sapientia Education Trust (SET). SET is an expanding multi-academy trust with 13 primary and 9 secondary schools.  

Experience working in a classroom environment is highly desirable, alongside the ability to clearly communicate and always work with the best interests of the pupils in mind. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • To attend to the personal and social needs of pupils and any other special requirements depending on the nature of a pupil’s special needs and, wherever possible, making these part of the learning experience;
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of pupils while encouraging constructive relationships within the classroom and with parents;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes;
  • Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses, including undertaking literacy and numeracy programmes, recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher.
