What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our staff. We are a popular secondary school serving 650 pupils in the Castle Donington Area. Within easy reach of Derby, Nottingham and Loughborough, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is looking to work with young people and make a difference to their lives.
The successful candidate will be able to provide in class support to students with special educational needs and/or disability. They will be patient and calm preferably with experience of working in an educational setting or with children. They will work closely with the current Learning Support team under the leadership of our Assistant Principal for Inclusion, who is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, as well as teaching staff across all curriculum areas.
We require an individual who will embrace the challenges of the role and who has the required qualities to support and build confidence of learners in all year groups. This is an exciting and unique role providing the opportunity to support and encourage individuals to overcome their learning difficulties and to help them develop their skills and confidence to work more independently. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, be committed, enthusiastic and have the ability to inspire learners to recognise and achieve their aspirations.
The appointed person will join a small and supportive team of staff and be able to make positive contributions to the development of the College.

Castle Donington College recently extended its age range and began teaching KS4 courses from September 2017 for first examinations in 2019. We currently have 564 students on roll in Years 7 to 11. The College is situated on the North West edge of Leicestershire on the Leicestershire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire border. It has excellent links to these cities, being close to the M1 and A50.
