Learning Support Assistant job summary

Learning Support Assistant

Part time working 32.1 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Term-time only

Fixed term for 6 months (reviewed biannually)

JOB SUMMARY

The role arises to support a student with an EHCP who begins Year 7 in September. We are seeking two learning support assistants to meet their needs. The role is subject to funding and will be reviewed after 6 months, in line with the EHCP process.

Supporting the student:

To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the student(s) to be supported.

To establish a rapport and a supportive relationship with the student(s), promoting high self-esteem, independence and social inclusion.

Provide support based on a detailed knowledge of the students’ personal and physical care needs.

To aid the student(s) to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually, inside and outside of the classroom.

To promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school’s behaviour policy.

To establish acceptance and inclusion of the student(s) in the classroom.

To manage the student(s) as advised by the SENDCO and class teacher.

To promote/reinforce the students’ self-esteem.

To ensure the safety of the student(s) whilst at school.

To carry out any specific duties as outlined in the students’ access to learning plan.

Working hours in this role will be 8:30 - 3:40.
