Learning Support Assistant – ASD Provision

Along with being a mainstream school, Biggleswade Academy has a small alternative resource provision especially for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Located in specialist facilities, our pupils join mainstream lessons according to their needs and benefit from wholly personalised timetables.
The successful applicant will be required to work within the ASD provision and when required, support pupils in the mainstream school.
To ensure these pupils receive the best possible provision to assist their needs, we are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:

Has knowledge and
understanding of ASD and other conditions associated with this diagnosis.
- Can support ASD
pupils within mainstream lessons.

Ability to liaise
with staff across the Academy to ensure inclusion of pupils with ASD &
SEND.
·
Has a calm,
caring but firm manner.
·
Is flexible with
regard to working practices and timings.
·
Can undertake
educational tasks and attend to the social and personal needs of pupils with
ASD, under the guidance of the ASD Lead Teacher.

Can work with
individuals and small groups in order to support the learning and development
of pupils with ASD and a variety of SEND needs.
Hours - 30 hours per week, 38.6 weeks per annum (Term time + 3 INSET days). Permanent contract.
Salary - NJC Level 2A Point 3 (£10.79 per hour)
Qualifications - Level 2/ NNEB/ BTEC or equivalent childcare qualification preferred, GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C
