Bowling Green Academy is a 4-11 primary academy and has a real ’family feel’; many of the pupils have generations of relatives who have attended the school from the local community. It is a lovely village school at the very heart of the Stainland community in Halifax.
The academy has a 23-reception intake with 139 pupils on roll. The school is a Victorian building, built in 1882 and enlarged in 1892 and in 2001 extended again to improve accommodation. As of December 2020, the School joined Great Heights Academy Trust.
Bowling Green has had an acting head in place and an Executive Principal from within the trust providing leadership mentoring for this transition period. The most recent December 2020 external SIP visit referenced “It is important to take on board that school provision and outcomes does not bear scrutiny when compared to the last Ofsted ‘good’ judgement. However, there are encouraging signs that alleviate these issues.”
