Learning Support Assistant – Level 3 job summary

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Level 3

Responsible to: Director of SEND

Salary Scale and Point: Level 4, Point 11-14

Contracted Hours: Term Time only, 35 hours

Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy is an exciting and dynamic place to work. We are an oversubscribed secondary academy with over 1400 students on roll at Key Stages 3-5. We are looking to recruit a SEND Practitioner – Level 3 to:

  • To liaise with SENDCO to identify students requiring targeted support through the Learning Support Base.
  • To liaise with SENDCO and ensure an appropriate targeted support programme is in place to meet the needs of identified students including 1:1 and small group work where appropriate.
  • To deliver, monitor and track targeted support accordingly, feedback to relevant members of staff, parents/ carers, students and external agencies where appropriate.
  • To liaise with SENDCO and LSAs to ensure Provision Map is updated accordingly as part of the Assess Plan Do Review model for targeted support.
  • To liaise with SENDCO and lead on MLD and Co-ordinate appropriate screening tests such as the SNAP Learning Difficulties Assessments and LUCID EXACT to inform support and provide a snapshot of need, following the Assess Plan Do Review model ensuring students are reassessed to monitor the impact of interventions over time.
  • To liaise with the SENDCO and SLT Link for Reading to identify and support students using relevant reading programmes to improve students reading skills.
  • To liaise with the SENDCO and teaching staff to gather appropriate evidence and ensure the appropriate reading interventions is in place.
  • To ensure reading data is tracked for students participating in reading intervention programmes.
