Learning Support Assistant (One to One) Secondary Phase job summary

 About the Role 
This post is initially temporary until 8th July 2022, but it is possible that it will be extended beyond this date and recommence in September 2022. 
 
This role is dedicated to the provision of support to particular children at Liverpool College (although there may be a requirement to support other children from time to time).  As a consequence, it may be dependent upon continuation of funding.  
 
To work as part of the Secondary staff team to deliver high quality support to individual pupils in order for them to make good progress in school.  Working under the direction of the SENCo and the classroom teacher, the One to One Support has the following responsibilities: 

-  To build and maintain successful relationships with the pupil, treat them consistently, with respect and consideration. 
-  To develop an understanding of the individual needs of the pupil. 
-  Work with an individual pupil to reinforce learning of material or skills as described in the Pupil Profile, EHCP or any other plan. 
-  To support the pupil in overcoming any barriers to learning in and out of the classroom. 
-  To make a difference by contributing to the social and educational development of the individual pupil through support, care and motivation. 
-  To work in cooperation with the class teacher to support the needs of the pupil and implement effective strategies to meet their needs. 
 
 
Personal Qualities: 
We are seeking an enthusiastic and positive individual, committed to the well-being of children and young people, who has: - 

-  Minimum Level 3 NVQ/NNEB or Teaching Assistance Training qualification 
-  Good education to GCSE level including English and Maths 
-  Experience of working within an education setting with a numeracy/literacy focus 
-  Ability to support subject teachers in the planning of lessons 
-  Ability to break down information so it can be easily relayed 
-  Patience and the ability to relate to young people 
-  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Liverpool College is a mixed ability 4-19 Academy of some 1500 pupils. The College is situated on a leafy 28-acre campus located in the Mossley Hill area of Liverpool adjacent to Sefton Park. The College was founded in 1840 and was a founding member of the Headmaster’s Conference and was a fee-paying school until September 2013, when it became an all-through academy for pupils aged 4 to 19 years old.
