We are looking to recruit a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistant to provide direct support to a visually impaired pupil in school.
The successful candidate will provide assistance to enable the pupil to access the curriculum, develop social skills, develop independent learning and visual compensatory skills and provide indirect support by assisting in the production of resources.
If you have the passion to be a key part of the Learning Support Team and have the skills, enthusiasm and commitment to work with young people with a visual impairment, we would like to hear from you.
Experience of working in a school setting is desirable. An awareness of visual impairment would be beneficial but not essential as training will be offered to the successful candidate.
Candidates are encouraged to visit the school or have an informal discussion about the role with Miss H Davies, SENCO. Arrangements for this can be made by contacting Mrs Sangster, SENCO Administrator, on 0191 384 3887 or via e-mail j.sangster@durhamjohnston.org.uk.
