Learning Support Assistant job summary
We are actively looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to help our SEND students to achieve their very best. The role will offer support to our students with Special Educational Needs both within the classroom and in one to one or small group settings. The successful candidate will require high standards of literacy and numeracy and be able to offer support in improving these skills to our young people. A sense of humour and flexibility are required and experience of working in a secondary school environment is desirable, although not essential as full training will be given.
Our SEND department is led by a strong SENCo and has a separate Learning Support area that allows small group or one to one support to those students who require it. Alongside this, our LSAs work closely with departments within the school to support with differentiated resources, worksheets and advice to staff to ensure that barriers to learning are removed for our SEND students.
The Highcrest Academy works to reinforce the six virtues linked to our motto (Ambition, Sensitivity, Purpose, Integrity, Resilience and Eloquence), helping us instil a culture of excellence that runs through every strand of our academy. We offer both excellent induction and support for staff and should the successful candidate be looking for a career in teaching, we would be able to support them in this.
The SEND department are a proactive, respected part of the Highcrest community and are ready to share their knowledge with you. If you are a team player, passionate about education and ensuring that all students are able to access the curriculum, then The Highcrest Academy is the place for you.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Highcrest Academy is fully committed to safeguarding children (policies on web). All members of staff are in a “regulated” role under the Vetting & Barring Scheme and have to be DBS cleared prior to employment.

All who work at the academy reinforce our six virtues linked to our motto (Ambition, Sensitivity, Purpose, Integrity, Resilience and Eloquence), helping us instil a culture of excellence that runs throughout every strand of our Academy.
Situated in the leafy Chilterns and within easy reach of Central London, Highcrest is culturally and academically diverse and is the only academy in Buckinghamshire that caters for students of ‘all abilities’. Some of our students need all your support, whilst others need to be challenged and stretched. Our inclusive and successful House system, a wide range of clubs, visits and trips helps to bring our whole school community together. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, including the Sixth Form. Recent additions to our site include a gym and restaurant/coffee shop for both staff and students, as well as a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.
A thriving and friendly academy in the heart of the community, where your well-being is paramount. We offer staff recognition schemes, free gym and staff sports teams, plus a paid Well-being Day for all staff. There is also the possibility of shared staff living accommodation and on-site parking.
