Learning Support Assistants job summary
The role of the Learning Support Assistant involves specialised support for those students in school who have additional needs/SEND. You will need to possess a genuine interest in young people and an insight into how they learn. Patience, flexibility and firmness are very important personal traits alongside good literacy/numeracy and ICT skills. A commitment to, and experience of working with, young people with SEND and emotional/social difficulties would be an advantage. Most of the LSA's work takes place in mainstream classrooms or in small groups. You will need to use initiative to support students' individual needs and to work as part of a large team.
