What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptive and ambitious Learning Support Lead to be part of the Inclusion and Support Faculty. Crestwood Community School is one school with two separate campuses serving central Eastleigh with a large Inclusion and Support Faculty which is overseen by the Achievement Leader and Assistant Achievement Leader for Inclusion and Support. The successful applicant will be joining Crestwood at an exciting time as the faculty is developing and continuing to grow in not only size but also expertise. We are currently oversubscribed, this is due to our reputation in the local community for our culture of care, pastoral systems and SEN support. We are looking for somebody who can continue to contribute to this culture and become an integral part in the leadership of this faculty, ensuring that students who access the provision continue to have the highest quality education and provision to meet their needs.
A HLTA in the Inclusion and Support Faculty stated:
“The Inclusion and Support Faculty is a rewarding place to work, where I am able to work with a friendly and supportive team. Everyday we deal with pupils who have complex and demanding needs, we support them to achieve their full potential.”
The role of a Learning Support Lead is vital in supporting the academic, personal, emotional and social development of pupils who have an EHCP in addition to supporting specific students in the wider school. Primarily this role will entail focusing upon the daily operational running of the provision demonstrating flexible decision making when considering the support for individual students and timetabling. The successful candidate must be adept at planning and delivering high quality intervention and education packages to ensure a high quality, personalised daily curriculum for individual students with complex needs.
What the school offers its staff
As a senior member of the faculty it would also be the responsibility of the Learning Support Lead to communicate with the Assistant Provision Lead and effectively deploy and support staff under the direction of the Achievement Leader for Inclusion and Support.
The Learning Support Lead will be based in the Inclusion and Support area on the Cherbourg Campus. The successful candidate must also be willing to liaise and work alongside the senior team and other Provision Leads in the faculty across both campuses to ensure that all stakeholders in a pupil’s education have an understanding of their provision and expertise is shared across the faculty and school. This will entail attending faculty meetings and planning time in order to effectively share expertise. The post holder will be required to lead annual reviews and liaise with parents, attend termly network meetings run by the local authority and attend any panel meetings and disseminate information to the Inclusion and Support Team. The Learning Support Lead will also be responsible for reading and responding to consults from the Local Authority; carefully considering the needs and provision for each student and making clear decisions about the placement of students within the school.
This position will require someone who can empathise with students whilst holding them to high expectations. Good communication skills and an ability to clarify and explain instructions clearly are essential. You must be professionally discreet, have well developed interpersonal skills and a good sense of humour. The ability to build appropriate and effective relationships with staff, students and parents is essential.
We will ensure that the successful candidate has:
comprehensive induction
continuous professional learning, development and improvement
the opportunity to contribute to raising standards for all our students
Commitment to safeguarding
Crestwood Community School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Crestwood Community School is one school, with two campuses serving central Eastleigh. Crestwood Community School had an Ofsted inspection in June 2018, which confirmed that we are a ‘good’ school. We also achieved outstanding gradings in Personal Development and Behaviour and Leadership. They also said that as a school we are “passionately committed to providing a first-class inclusive education for all pupils; tenacious in their pursuit of additional resources and approaches to continually improve provision.” This is a happy school, where staff and students want to be. The #Crestwoodfamily pervades through everything we do.
