Learning Support Practitioner - Supporting Specific Physical Needs job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Practitioner to Supporting Specific Physical Needs to join the team here at The Oldham Academy North, working with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the classroom teacher.
Key Accountabilities: Reporting to the HLTA or SLT link, this post holder will be accountable for
Support for pupils
- Select appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities, differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of allocated pupil(s)
- Assist with the implementation of individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal/Intimate Care programs in line with the specific needs of the pupil(s)
- Feeding over the lunchtime period for individual pupils identified as requiring support in this area. • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
Support for the teacher
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work.
- Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required.
- Select and use appropriate strategies, as agreed with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
Support for the curriculum
- Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities in agreement with the teacher
- Undertake programmes linked to local and national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy, early years recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.

Salary details:
SCP 4 - 6 £16,297 - £16,897 (FTE: £21,189 - £21,968)
32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
