What skills and experience we're looking for

We wish to appoint an experienced individual to support classroom teachers in their work with SEND students aged 11 – 14 which will include:

Assisting class room teachers in the teaching, inclusion and management of children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities in a specified KS3 class.

You will need to be an excellent communicator, with sound knowledge and comprehension of English and Mathematics for secondary students. Applicants will have worked with or supported children in the secondary age group.

This post would be highly suitable for those wishing to gain in depth understanding and experience of a secondary school environment prior to teacher training or a permanent teaching post.

Applicants will need to be appropriately qualified to either degree or similar accreditation and have gained demonstrable experience of working with students with special educational needs. They will need to be able to support teachers by organising and managing appropriate learning environments and resources. Knowledge and experience of the national curriculum is essential, as is a good understanding of child development and learning processes, including the statutory frameworks relating to teaching.
