Learning & Teaching Assistant - ASD job summary

Ormiston Victory Academy is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning and Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and highly effective team. You will be working for 28 hours per week, term time plus 1 week (39 working weeks per year).

You will be working with teachers supporting teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom. You will participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher along with overseeing classroom materials and learning areas.

About you

We are looking for a focused and conscientious individual, with calm, caring and patient approach who ideally has:

    • Previous experience of working with young people with ASD in an education setting
    • The relevant skills to be able to deliver 1:1 intervention, small group social communication and interactive interventions
    • The ability to form positive relationships and work effectively with other key staff
    • A willingness to undertake training and attend meetings as necessary
    • NVQ level 2 in related area or equivalent or willing to undertake training
