Vacancy for Level 1 Teaching Assistant - 18 hours per week over 3 days

Salary: Grade 4, Point 3-5 (actual salary£10,070-£10,390)

Hours of work: 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

We currently have a vacancy for a passionate, creative and dedicated Teaching Assistant, who thrives on helping students realise their potential at The Ferrers School. You will work under the direction of the Class Teacher, to enable access to learning for students and to aid the Class Teacher in the management of students and the classroom.

The Opportunity

  • To support a child with a visual impairment
  • To liaise with key stakeholders such as teachers and external agencies when collecting work for the child with visual impairment.
  • To adapt resources in line with timescales to ensure that the child with visual impairment has an equal learning experience.
  • To have a flexible approach when support the child with visual impairment in class.
  • To be able to use a range of supportive technology to support the learning of the child with visual impairment.
  • To be confident in the use of a range of technology or a willingness to learn.
  • To complete further training and CPD around support children and young people with visual impairment.
  • Join a dedicated, enthusiastic team, within a supportive MAT.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a good educational background with GCSE or equivalent in English Language.
  • Understands how children learn.
  • Is skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient, independent learners.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is able to develop and sustain positive relationships with pupils.
