We have an exciting vacancy for a passionate and creative Teaching Assistant - SEN Support, who thrives on helping students realise their potential at The Harbour School Under the direction of the Principal and SLT, you will be supporting children with SEND needs both inside and outside of the classroom environment.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a good educational background with GCSE or equivalent in English Language.
  • Understands how children learn.
  • Is skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient, independent learners.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is able to develop and sustain positive relationships with pupils.

Working under direction of the Class Teacher you will provide access to learning for students and assist the teacher in the management of students in the classroom.

The successful candidates will play a significant role in improving the quality of pupils’ learning, together with promoting the vision, values and aspirations of the school and its wider community.

Our learners have complex needs, and so the successful candidate will be able to ensure that they have the skills to support the teacher as they deliver the curriculum and fully engage pupils in their learning, meeting their individual needs and facilitating sustained learner progress.

The Harbour School currently caters for boys from 5-16 years who have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) for social, emotional and mental health needs. We currently have 101 pupils on roll who attend from all over the Cambridgeshire area and sometimes from outside the county. Our school is situated in rural Cambridgeshire. The generous grounds, including the wooded area and pond, are fully utilised through enrichment activities throughout the school day.
