What skills and experience we're looking for
Skills:
Have effective oral and written communication skills
Form effective professional relationships including team working
Have good organisational and time management skills
Have sound ICT skills
Establish good working relationships with pupils acting as a role model
Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by theteacher
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual/Behaviour Plansand Personal Care programmes
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievements andprogress
Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence andindependence in its use
Work as part of a team appreciating and supporting the role of other people inthe team
Support the change process, remaining positive during times of change
Build and maintain successful relationships with pupils
Ability to improve your own practice
Knowledge:
Ability to provide support for pupils, including those with special needs,ensuring their safety and access to learningactivities.
Ability to utilise strategies to support pupils in achieving learninggoals
Promote good pupil behaviour and deal promptly with conflict andincidents
Ability to undertake pupil record keeping asrequested
Ability to provide support for structured and agreed learningactivities/learning programmes, taking into consideration pupils learningstyles
Understanding of how to support maths and English programmes, recordachievements and progress and providing appropriate repots and feedbackfor theteacher
Awareness of procedures relating to child protection, health, safety andsecurity, confidentiality and dataprotection
Working with pupils in school for a minimum of 2 years and caring for children ofrelevant age/subject area in an educational setting
General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learningprogrammes/techniques
Basic understanding of child development and learning
Ability to relate well to children and adults
Working with children who have special educational needs/EAL
General awareness of inclusion, especially within a school setting
