An exciting opportunity has arisen at our oversubscribed and rated "good" academy for students from 11 to 19 years of age, for a Level 3 (qualified or working towards) Assistant Teacher to work as part of our Specialized Learning Faculty to support our Rapid Progress Intervention Program and to lead, advise and support in an area of SEN Specialism. We are looking for an individual with strong classroom skills and SEN experience and knowledge, who can support, motivate and inspire students who need specific help to overcome barriers to learning in a mainstream educational setting. You will need to be a team player but also be able to work independently, show great flexibility, creativity and have outstanding communication and organisation skills.
You will collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering programs of teaching and learning activities for classes, groups or individuals. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher. You will work alongside the lead teacher in administrating and delivering our Rapid Progress Intervention to achieve measurable student progress. You will work with both individual students and small groups to deliver interventions.
You will have a specialized knowledge in an SEN area that you can take the lead in to deliver training and awareness to SEN colleagues and teaching staff and also an Autism Education Trust qualification or equivalent, preferably at tier 3 with experience of speech and language needs.If not already qualified, we will expect to support previous experience or enthusiasm for an SEN specialism with a formally recognized training and qualification.
This role will start as soon as possible and will be subject to a six month probationary period. The salary for this role is H4, for 36.66 hours per week 38 weeks per annum. There may be a requirement to work some additional inset days by mutual agreement. These would be paid as extra hours. Working hours 8.30am - 4.30pm Mon to Fri term time with a 40 minute unpaid break per day.
