Librarian and Careers Support job summary
We are seeking creative, dedicated and forward-thinking applicants with an ability to work with and support colleagues and students within excellent library and careers provision. This opportunity would be suitable for anybody new to, or experienced within, a school setting.
The Academy is looking for someone who has:
• Previous experience working with and maintaining library stock;
• Experience working with and motivating young people;
• Excellent organisation skills;
• Knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Office, use of SIMS would be an advantage;
• Skills to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues, parents, students and external agencies.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Maintaining library stock, including refreshing and updating books as required;
• Working with students before, after and during the Academy day to make wider use of Library facilities;
• Contribution to the Academy reading programmes, including extracurricular opportunities;
• Supporting and encouraging the ‘Accelerated Reader’ programme, working with colleagues in the English Department;
• Supporting the Careers Leader and Vice Principal in the delivery of the careers programme;
• Completing administrative work to support library and careers provision.
