Library Assistant job summary
We are seeking a confident, supportive and flexible person who can adapt to changing circumstances and maintain an environment conducive to private study whilst fulfilling both library and administrative duties.
The successful candidate will have good knowledge of IT and databases, however, will receive relevant training in Access it and Google Drive.
Key Responsibilities
Providing administrative support to the Library Manager
Supervising students and managing their behaviour (alongside other staff)
Issuing, returning and renewing books
Assisting with preparing books for loan
Keeping resources organised, returning resources to the shelves
Helping staff and students locate resources
Creating and maintaining displays
Promoting reading for pleasure and purpose
Personal attributes and skills:
Good organisational skills
Good IT and creative skills
Know when to ask for support and advice
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal confidently with a wide range of people including staff and students
Approachable and empathetic to the needs of others
Experience of working with children and teenagers desirable
Experience of working in a secondary school desirable
Experience of working in a library desirable
Good role model
Demonstrate professionalism at all times

Katherine Warington School is a new comprehensive, co‐educational and non‐denominational academic secondary school (opened September 19) with 750 students currently (180 in each of years 7, 8, 9 and 10 – these year groups are already oversubscribed). The school will add a
