Library Assistant job summary

Library Assistant

The Chalk Hills Academy are currently recruiting for a friendly and organised Library Assistant to join our support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for aiding our staff and students by undertaking a range of duties, ensuring a high-quality service and contributing to the continuous improvement of the school library service. In addition to supporting the day-to-day organisation of the Learning Resource Centre, the post holder will provide administrative support to the academy Literacy Lead.

Experience in a similar role is a benefit but not essential, it is more important to us to find someone extremely passionate about reading and literacy. We are looking for someone who is passionate, patient and has a positive outlook. You must be able to sort alphabetically and numerically and be computer literate.

The successful candidate will

Be passionate about reading and promoting literacy to students

Have demonstrable experience of dealing in person with a wide range of people in a customer orientated service

Have demonstrable computing and keyboard skills and the ability to use CD Rom, Internet and Word processing packages

Be able to sort accurately alphabetically and numerically

Be able to advise customers and deal with enquiries politely and sensitively

Be able to work as a member of a team in a busy library environment

Be able to lift/carry books with appropriate aids and stand for long periods of time

Job Role Fixed Term 1year,Full time, Term-Time plus 5 INSET days Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm, Fri 9.30am -5pm
