Job description

We are looking to appoint a teacher to teach reading to our weaker readers as well as teaching pupils with specific learning difficulties. The successful candidate will have experience of working with pupils who struggle with their reading and will ideally have an understanding of reading schemes in secondary schools and phonics knowledge.

Essential educational requirements

UK Qualified Teacher status for teaching primary or secondary education as recognised by the DfE.

Graduate with a good degree.

Essential qualifications

QTS qualification or equivalent.

Ability to teach good lessons and to engage pupils across the age and ability range.

High expectations of pupils’ work, attitude and behaviour.

Comprehensive understanding of how reading is taught.

Understanding of how to formulate an effective Individual Education Plan

Knowledge of formal literacy assessments

Ability to prioritise and set personal targets.

Evidence of commitment to own professional development.

Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the need to work within the school’s Child Protection Policy.
