About the role:

At Ark Secondary, we are currently seeking a Learning Support & Speech and Language Assistant (referred to as an LSA), who will provide specific and direct support to children with Special Educational needs or a Disability (SEND), ensuring that these children make good progress in Speech and Language Therapy out of class Interventions, as well as the mainstream curriculum in the classroom. Line Managed by the SENCo and working alongside class teachers and Speech and Language Therapists to provide in-class support and small-group interventions in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. Receiving regular Speech and Language Therapy training, there will be an opportunity to grow and direct your professional development into a specialism. This role requires a flexible approach, good organisational and administrative skills.

The ideal candidate will:

·         Have a calm and patient manner and nurturing approach are essential to the role.

·         A good understanding of the academy’s teaching and learning behaviour policies are desirable, and specific training will be provided to support you I the role.

·         Be able to liaise effectively, both orally and in writing, with SENCo, class teachers, Speech & Language Therapists and parents.
