Lunchtime Playworker/Classroom Technician
Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a permanent, part-time Lunchtime Playworker/Classroom Technician, based at Corsham Primary School (Pound Pill site).
Hours:
Lunchtime Playworker/Classroom Technician - 10 hours per week, 2 hours per day (1 for the lunch hour, 1 for technician/reading duties), Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD Days).
Salary:
Playworker/Classroom Technician – B2 £23,656 pro rata per annum, actual salary £5358 per annum

Corsham Primary School is located in the picturesque Wiltshire market town of Corsham, near Bath, and is arranged over two sites located at either side of the town. Pound Pill site offers 14 classes and the Broadwood site houses 11 classes, both supporting children from Reception to Year 6. We are looking to appoint a new member to our team to perform the role of Teaching Assistant and Lunchtime Playworker/Classroom Technician at Corsham Primary School.
As a Lunchtime Playworker/Classroom Technician you must be committed and flexible, be able to support groups and individual children during school lunchtimes and developing play opportunities together with some classroom administration work. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. The successful candidates will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by the Lunchtime Supervisor, Deputy Headteacher and wider team.
Duties will include
Ensuring pupils are safe, well-behaved, and adhering to school rules during lunchtime.
Helping distribute meals, snacks, and drinks, ensuring food is provided in a hygienic manner.
Maintaining cleanliness by supervising eating areas, cleaning tables, and ensuring food waste is properly disposed of.
Assisting younger or special-needs students with their meals or any other needs during lunchtime.
Addressing behavioural issues, mediating disputes, and ensuring a calm and pleasant dining environment.
Ensuring health and safety standards are met, such as checking for food allergies, preventing choking hazards, and being aware of any medical emergencies.
Supervising pupils during playtime, ensuring their safety on playgrounds or in designated areas
- Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development
- Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required.
- Changing pupil reading books and hearing individual readers.
Undertaking classroom administrative tasks where needed, such as backing children’s pictures, taking displays down, laminating work cards etc under the direction of a Teacher’s Personal Assistant.

The jobholder must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This will involve undertaking annual Safeguard training and using school reporting systems for any Safeguard concerns.
