What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you enthusiastic about supporting children in a caring and safe environment? Chawson First School is looking to appoint a friendly, responsible, and proactive Lunchtime Supervisor to join our dedicated team.
As a Lunchtime Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring our pupils have a safe, happy, and enjoyable lunchtime, both while eating and during play. You will help promote good behaviour, encourage positive social interaction, and ensure the well-being of all children in your care.
This is a hands-on role that also includes preparing and tidying the dining area each day. Experience working with children in a school or similar setting is desirable, but not essential. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
At Chawson First school, we pride ourselves on our welcoming, inclusive environment. You'll be joining a supportive team that values every member of staff and works together to make lunchtime a positive, engaging time for all our pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing the dining area by setting out benches and tables before lunchtime begins.
- Clearing away all benches and tables after lunch and sweeping the floor to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
- Supervising pupils in the dining hall, classroom (if needed), and playground during the lunch break.
- Encouraging good table manners and helping younger children with their lunch as needed.
- Promoting positive behaviour and intervening in minor disagreements, following the school's behaviour policy.
- Leading and supporting playground games and activities that foster inclusion and active play.
- Ensuring the safety, welfare, and good conduct of children at all times, indoors and outdoors.
- Managing minor first aid incidents and referring to the designated first aider where appropriate.
- Reporting any concerns about pupil welfare, behaviour, or health to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Supporting pupils with special educational needs to ensure they are included and safe during lunchtime.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Enjoys working with children and has a warm, caring approach.
- Is reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Is physically fit and able to manage the setting up and clearing away of lunch equipment.
- Can work well as part of a team and follow instructions from senior staff.
- Is confident in managing children’s behaviour in a positive, consistent way.
- Has good communication skills and a sense of initiative.
- Is able to stay calm under pressure and respond appropriately to situations.
What the school offers its staff
- A welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school community.
