Main School Pastoral Support Officer (Permanent) job summary

We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Officer to join our dedicated team at Stratford Girls' Grammar School. This is a permanent, full time role (term time only plus two weeks) that will include being the Attendance Officer for the School, triaging and providing the support and guidance needed by our students and providing support to the wider Pastoral team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the Attendance Officer for the school. Effectively monitoring daily attendance data, preparing reports for staff, and liaising with parents to address attendance issues
  • Ensuring accurate completion of attendance registers and fostering strong relationships to promote punctuality and attendance.
  • Being part of the PSO team who track and monitor safeguarding concerns
  • Triaging and assisting with day-to-day emotional and behaviour issues, and proactively communicating with parents as needed
  • Providing first aid and supporting the welfare of students who are ill or require medical attention
  • Organising safety procedures, including liaison with other staff and parents where students have reduced mobility
  • Undertaking various administrative tasks, such as minuting meetings, updating school systems, and liaising with staff, students, and parents or as requested by the Headteacher
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures related to attendance, safeguarding, communications, health, safety, and security
  • Upholding and promoting the school's vision and contributing to the wider life of the school

Requirements:

  • Excellent administrative and organisation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the ability to quickly build positive professional relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Experience in a similar pastoral or administrative role within an educational setting
  • Proficient in using IT systems and software, including Management Information Systems
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Desirable Qualities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Bromcom attendance and behaviour management systems
  • Experience in providing first aid and supporting student welfare
  • Familiarity with school administrative processes and procedures
