Maternity Cover Class Teacher job summary

Thank you for your interest in the post of Class Teacher at Christ the King Catholic Academy. This temporary position offers an exciting opportunity for an Early Careers teacher or more experienced professional, ready to join our team of dedicated staff for two terms, initially (1st January 2026 until 31st August 2026).

Christ the King is part of the Blessed Edward Bamber Multi Academy Trust (BEBCMAT) and has a particularly close and unique relationship with St Cuthbert’s Catholic Academy (both schools are led by the same leadership team). Governors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled teacher who will support the schools’ aspirations for improving the life chances of the children and families we serve. The post is a temporary maternity cover, and the successful candidate would take up the position from 1st January 2026.

The position advertised involves teaching within our Year 5 learning environment that will in turn make a significant contribution to the positive educational outcomes of our children. Both of our schools are one form entry however shared planning, organisation and discussion opportunities are frequent between our two sites. There are also opportunities to move between sites, in future years should this be something that interests you if further positions become available. The current advert is for two terms initially, however it is possible that this may be extended by another term.

Christ the King Catholic Academy’s learning space is just over 10 years old now, but there have been some recent improvements to the site including a quad garden, improved breakfast club area and the creation of an SEN provision called “The Meadow”.

Although the position is based at Christ the King it is important to understand the close working relationship between them and St Cuthbert’s due to the shared leadership team structure. Both schools are unique and distinct in their own way but share a consistent curriculum, behaviour policy and governing body. This special partnership, along with our network with other local Catholic schools in the Blackpool area, continues to strengthen both the practice and faith development of our two schools.
