Maternity Cover - Outreach Teacher job summary
Rowan Gate has provided outreach support to Mainstream Primary and Early Years settings since 2020. The aim of the service has always been to bridge the gap between our special education setting, and mainstream schools to share good practice, strategies and specialist knowledge and understanding with educational professionals.
We are currently looking to recruit an individual to the team on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.
An Outreach Teacher supports the Lead Practitioner in providing specialised outreach support to mainstream settings in the North of Northamptonshire, meeting the needs of children and young people with difficulties related to the Autistic Spectrum and/or cognition and learning needs. Applications will be accepted from experienced teachers with a proven track record of working with children with learning difficulties linked to the Autistic Spectrum and/or cognition and learning.
The maternity cover is for 0.8wte (the number of working days can be agreed with the successful candidate.)
The successful candidate will behigh quality practitioners, with excellent class management skills and experience of working with pupils with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).
The successful candidate will:
- Hold qualified teacher status
- Be a qualified SENCO
- Have an understanding of child development
- Have knowledge of relevant strategies and interventions that support children with difficulties related to AS and/or cognition and learning such as TEACCH, PECs, AAC, working with the Engagement Model
- Have experience of teaching children and young people with difficulties related to AS and/or cognition and learning in SEND or Mainstream provision
- Have experience of implementing strategies and interventions that support children with difficulties related to AS and/or cognition and learning
- Have experience of EHCPs including the review process
- Have experience of writing and implementing IEPs
- Have experience of developing and adapting curriculum and schemes of work to meet the needs of pupils with barriers to learning
- Have experience of tracking progress of SEN pupils through school-based assessment
- Have knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
- Have experience of liaison with parents, external professionals, SLT etc
