Department information
The mathematics team has celebrated fantastic progress since the opening of the Academy and is completely committed to excellence, aspiring to be the leading department within the school. They are well supported by the school, which allows for extra mathematics interventions to take place within the curriculum. This has contributed to our strong GCSE results.
The team offers a supportive and ambitious environment, with collaboration and improvement at the centre. The department fully embraces the principles of teaching for mastery and has a strong partnership with the local maths hub, which supports the continuous drive to improve their practise. Regular department time is allocated to team development and collaborative planning, so anyone joining the department will have the opportunity to develop their teaching practise and grow professionally.
The mathematics department are dedicated to offering students a positive and enriching experience in mathematics through a challenging and inspiring curriculum, which is continuously developed collaboratively with the trust. The department benefits greatly from being part of a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), which among other advantages, reduces teacher workload and provides more robust and reliable assessment data.
