Maths KS5 Coordinator job summary

Mark Rutherford School is a large oversubscribed secondary school in the northern part of Bedford with approximately 1250 students on roll. We serve a wide-ranging urban catchment area whilst also taking students from other parts of the town and surrounding villages. We offer a broad and varied curriculum to suit the needs of our students.

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic and highly motivated individual who will be responsible for raising standards of student attainment and achievement within KS5 Maths and to monitor and support student progress. You will ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying KS5 Maths (taking into account GCSE curriculum/transition), is in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and Headteacher.

We are lucky to have a large and pleasant campus with extensive green spaces for sport and recreation. Our infrastructure offers well-equipped classrooms and other subject specific facilities to support our students with their learning and personal development. Two large indoor sports facilities enable students to undertake a wide range of sports and we also have a 3G pitch for students to use for lessons, sporting fixtures and recreational time. Our recently opened £2 million STEM facility houses our planetarium whilst also providing a lecture theatre, number of classrooms and a computer room. For our STEM enthusiasts we offer access to additional qualifications, such as GCSE Astronomy and Sixth Form students lead a weekly club for Key Stage 3 students who have a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

All of our staff are dedicated and committed to raising standards and developing each child to reach their potential. We have a strong emphasis on academic achievement, backed up by the real knowledge of each student’s individual needs. Students learn in a positive, healthy and challenging environment.

At Mark Rutherford School we offer a supportive working environment and a comprehensive CPD offer. The school has an excellent induction programme as part of our staff support package and a clear pathway for career progression with our Aspiring Middle Leaders Programme.

If you are seeking to join a committed and enthusiastic team in a school where collaboration and professional development are fully supported, then we would be delighted to receive your application.

We are committed to the protection and safety of our students and the successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

We reserve the right to invite candidates for interview prior to the closing date and to close vacancies early if we have sufficient suitable applications. Therefore, we encourage interested applicants to apply as soon as possible.
