What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an inspiring teacher to lead maths across the school and to initially teach Year 6. The start date is negotiable (either 22nd April or 2nd June) as the current class teacher is able to stay and work alongside the successful candidate until SATs.
The successful applicant will join our friendly, well established staff team and work with the support of the leadership team.
The role is suitable for an experienced maths lead or someone aspiring to develop leadership of a core area. It is not suitable for an ECT.
Our maths curriculum highlights the importance of developing and embedding core number skills and incorporating these into problem solving.
Trauma Perceptive Practice is integral to our whole school ethos. We treat all adults and children with hope not hopelessness, compassion not blame and connection not disconnection.
We would like a KS2 Teacher who:
- has experience of delivering a high quality KS2 curriculum
- has high expectations of themselves and the children and values working as part of a team
- has a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the children
- wants to inspire and motivate children in their learning
We would like a maths lead who has:
- enthusiasm for the subject
- a willingness to keep up to date with the latest developments in the teaching of maths
- an understanding of how mathematical concepts are developed from concrete experiences through to abstract application
- the ability to lead staff training and whole school initiatives
- the professionalism to work alongside colleagues, offering support
What the school offers its staff
We can offer:
- enthusiastic, well-behaved children who enjoy learning
- a collaborative approach to planning with schemes in place
- a well-resourced environment
- a sensitive approach to teacher well-being
- a leadership team who recognises and develops potential in others
- a suitable budget and time for the monitoring and implementation of maths initiatives
In line with recommended practice the school will conduct searches on short listed candidates of information that is publicly available online.
