What skills and experience we're looking for

The role involve teaching young people with medical needs who are unable to access mainstream education. Many of our young people have gaps in their education and we strive to implement creative teaching strategies to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our young people to access learning and make expected progress. You should be passionate about developing and supporting the needs of the whole child and committed to enabling all pupils to thrive. We are looking for qualified teachers with tenacity, positivity and experience of teaching the subject across the Key Stages. You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good practitioner.

What the school offers its staff

James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham.  In the course of a school year we educate over 3,000 young people for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres.  The majority of our young people have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period of time prior to joining the Academy. We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them to ‘close the gap’ and to make outstanding progress during the time they are with us.
