Job summary
Thank you for your interest in the position of Maths Teacher at Lansdown Park Academy. The Academy Council,
Trust and Head Teacher seek to appoint an exceptional and passionate practitioner of Maths.
Lansdown Park Academy is part of the Learn@ Multi Academy Trust. We are a specialist Academy for Key Stage
1 - 4 students who have been permanently excluded or close to permanent exclusion from Mainstream School
across Bristol and BaNES. Most of our young people attend with us on a short-term basis however some young
people remain with us for longer. Some young people that join us have underling SEN needs including SEMH,
SLCN and/or ASD.
We recognise the importance of an inclusive approach to meeting young people’s needs and promoting their
learning.
The main personal attributes we are looking for is the capacity to enthuse, engage and inspire our young people
through a deep understanding of the curriculum content and concepts with the ability to enliven the subject to meet
a range of needs. Due to the nature of our young people and historic gaps in education, this post requires a good
knowledge and understanding of the subject and exam frameworks to identify gaps in learning and provide accurate
individualised targets to ensure pupils progress and learning are in line with their mainstream peers. This post
represents an excellent opportunity for either a teacher eager to enter special school teaching or someone already
experienced in this sphere of education. If you are an outstanding practitioner who is passionate about making
learning effective and enjoyable, have the highest levels of integrity as well as excellent communication skills and
can contribute to our journey in driving forward Maths in order to facilitate learning experiences that gives young
people the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

About Lansdown Park Academy
Lansdown Park Academy offers full time education for students who are either at risk of permanent exclusion or have been excluded. We have 3 sites across Bath and North East Somerset and South Bristol. Stockwood Site in Bristol (KS2 and KS3), They Key in Keynsham (KS2) and Rush Hill in Bath (KS3 and KS4). We work in a specialist environment where students’ behaviours are barriers to learning and need to be understood and overcome to support the positive reintegration in education. A large percentage of our pupils are being assessed for an EHCP in the areas of Social, Emotional Mental Health, Speech and Language difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorders. We foster respect, positive relationships and social responsibility leading to educational and personal success. Many of our students return to their host or another school or specialist provision within 18 weeks.
