We’re looking for a maths teacher who is passionate about supporting young people who have faced multiple barriers to learning. A teacher who shares our determination to give students innovative, experiential learning opportunities.
Our ideal candidate would be an experienced KS3/ KS4 teacher who wants to develop their practice and experience more dynamic ways of engaging children in learning.

Our alternative provision academy in Hornchurch, in the London Borough of Havering, supports young people aged between 11 and 16 who have been permanently excluded from school.
The academy also offers an intervention programme specifically for those young people who are at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school.
The academy building is undergoing a major refurbishment programme and the new facilities will be completed in Spring 2019.

Essential educational requirements
First degree or equivalent.
DfE recognised qualified teacher status/Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills.
Evidence of CPD which enhances classroom practice (desirable).
Essential skills and experience
Evidence of recent successful classroom practice. An excellent classroom teacher with the ability to reflect on lessons and continually improve their own practice. Lessons are consistently judged to be good or better.
Effective and systematic behaviour management – experience of using de-escalation techniques in a school setting; experience of maintaining clear
boundaries and using sanctions, praise and rewards.
Experience of supporting all aspects of inclusion to successfully meet the needs of pupils with complex special educational, social and emotional needs.
Detailed knowledge of the KS3/KS4 maths curriculum.

About Olive Ap Academy - Havering

The academy has capacity for up to 64 pupils. The academy building is undergoing a major refurbishment programme and the new facilities will be completed in Spring 2019. We are part of a multi-academy trust with three alternative provision academies and an outreach service in London and the east of England. Our aim is to transform the lives of children and young people for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked. We help our pupils develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to believe that they can be successful in their own lives.
