Further details about the role

Maths Department at Trinity

The Maths Department of Trinity School is a fully staffed dynamic and friendly team of 8 teachers who inspire and support each other and the pupils with a love of Mathematics.

We are dedicated to raising the attainment of all our students in mathematics, preparing them to be independent and logical thinkers who are able to function in today’s society. Using many different techniques and strategies, we work to ensure that all students both reach their potential in mathematics and enjoy learning.

We are committed to ensuring teachers have a reasonable workload and as such encourage live feedback in lessons. The whole class feedback model makes efficient use of time for responsive feedback. Research underpins everything we do; we recently achieved a Quality Mark Plus in Research from the Chartered College.

Last year our year 11s achieved 82% grade 4 and above with 25% achieving grade 7 and above. We had a progress 8 figure of +0.62.

The continuing professional development of all staff at Trinity is a priority and the Maths department is devoted to providing opportunities for staff to further their careers. We have weekly collaborative planning and CPD sessions and encourage staff to do external CPD through the Maths Hub, NCETM and NPQ’s. We have one member of staff currently on her third year on the teaching for mastery course led by the NCETM and our Maths 2IC is on his second year on the NCETM ‘Leading Mastery’ course.

At KS3 our lowest attaining pupils get an extra 2 lessons of maths per week and follow The DI program ‘Corrective Mathematics’.

In addition to teaching KS3 and KS4 Maths there are also opportunities for teaching FSMQ Additional Maths, GCSE Statistics and Finance if interested.

We are excited at the opportunity to welcome you to the Maths Team at Trinity.
