You would be working alongside the maths team and other key departments. We are looking for an individual who can develop and implement a successful whole school numeracy programme. The goal of which is develop the teaching of numeracy across school and engage and enthuse our learners (and staff!) about all things numeric.

The other main aspect of your responsibility is to manage our maths intervention and ‘catch up’ programme. You should be able to identify a targeted group, manage the delivery of an effective programme to meet needs, track progress and monitor impact.

We are looking for someone who is an excellent teacher of maths, is ambitious for themselves and others and has the experience and confidence to develop and lead a whole school curriculum initiative. In addition, you should have had experience of leading an effective and impactful curriculum initiative, which improved outcomes and enjoyment for young people.

What the school offers its staff

We are a school with very high expectations. We believe in three simple values: outcomes matter, people matter and learning matters. Everything we do is aimed at providing outstanding teaching and learning and outstanding pastoral support to our young people. We are a great school. The staff are warm and friendly, highly professional, hugely committed and our students are wonderful, they are keen to learn, are respectful and hard working. We are extremely proud of our inclusivity, we work hard to provide for our high proportion of disadvantaged students and those in need of additional support and care, and they thrive here.

We pride ourselves on how well colleagues are supported and cared for. Whilst our ideal candidate is someone who will be able to show a lot of drive, enthusiasm and ideas of their own, you would be well supported with high levels of mentoring as needed and line management.

You will have access to the benefits of working in a school with:

Ø Interactive technology in every classroom

Ø A well-resourced department

Ø Recently refurbished state of the art library

Ø A sincere commitment to professional development for all staff

The school is in a good location, easily accessible from Manchester, Warrington and Cheshire.

Sale High School is an 11-16 mixed high school in the selective borough of Trafford. The school is focused on being the school of choice for the local community. We want our local community to think long and hard about sending their children elsewhere in the borough, or into the selective system. We are committed to being the best type of comprehensive school, where students from a range of different backgrounds gain from being part of a diverse community, where everyone, no matter what their abilities, can aspire and achieve. The school is extremely popular and oversubscribed, having grown from having 540 on roll in September 2017 to having 1017 on roll in September 2022.

We were rated by Ofsted as ‘good’ in our inspection of 2019.

Behaviour for learning is excellent: students are engaged and hard working. The school community is proud of itself and its achievements with an overwhelming majority of staff (99%), saying they were proud of the school (November 2021 survey.

We place a strong emphasis on continuing professional development and work hard to grow and develop staff through training opportunities. We are proud to be a ‘teaching and learning’ school with a strong emphasis placed on continuing development through our teaching and learning hub groups.

The school is characterised by its focus on three simple priorities: firstly, excellent outcomes for all. We know that outcomes matter and for our disadvantaged students they matter very much indeed. Secondly, that people really matter and we should treat everyone in our community with humanity and respect. It is essential that we value each other, staff and students, in order that all members of our community feel able to flourish and succeed. Lastly, we value learning. We espouse a growth mind-set, something which is particularly important in our context as a high school in a selective authority.
