We are committed to prioritising the wellbeing of our staff through a wellbeing committee by committing to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter Key Information • Hours: Full time or part time, hours of work flexible • Contract: Term time only • Start date: 30th August 2022 • Salary: Competitive • Closing Date: 8th July at 12 noon What we can offer you • A supportive, cohesive and exciting working environment • The chance to work with genuinely enthusiastic and happy students • A meal allowance, commensurate with your working hours • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) or Teacher Pension Scheme (TPS) • Healthcare Cash Plan, from Westfield Health Person specification The successful candidate will : •Have experience of multi-disciplinary agency working •Have a good understanding of child development and health issues •Be enthusiastic, committed and proactive approach Desirable but not essential: •Experience of working with young people •Experience of delivering training •First aid qualification (training for the right candidate) Job Description Reporting directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, the Medical Officer has responsibility for the health and welfare of all students, and to oversee the medical room, maintaining an active and regular point of contact for all students Main Duties and Responsibilities: •Provide first aid treatment as required. •Oversee the Medical Room, including coordinating the staffing of the Medical Room •Maintain student files and dispense medication to students as advised by parents/carers. Ensure the security and delivery of controlled medicines. •Decide when further medical attention is required and support students if requiring hospital treatment, including attending Accident and Emergency as required and contacting parents/ carers to advise on situation. •Organise and deliver the immunisation programme within school •Provide health screening opportunities and advice and guidance to students and staff. •To carry out specified medical care procedures as necessary. •To provide personal, social, hygiene, welfare and behaviour support for students. •To contribute to the PSHE programme and delivery of specific health related subjects. Take an active role in delivering student assemblies and tutor time activities •Write, maintain and update medical health care plans •Take responsibility for writing and updating the Medical Policy •Take an active role in identifying training needs for staff and resolving this need through delivery of training / coordinating relevant training •Complete home visits where required •Work alongside and liaise with the health colleagues/ relevant stakeholders in the local authority, particularly the linked Local Authority School Health Nurse •Take an active role, alongside the pastoral team, in generating and implementing strategies to support students reduce their dependency or frequent visits to the medical room •Act as the lead practitioner for students with complex medical needs; liaison, meetings and updates with all stakeholders About The Trust Landau Forte Charitable Trust is a family of six Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form Academies across the Midlands. Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and BTEC, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond. The academies are located on a shared campus, but both operate from their own facilities, with Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form having new bespoke, accommodation, which opened in September 2011, with a new Sports Hall that opened in 2013.
