Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages – Part time (0.5-0.6), permanent.
Salary scale: NQT – UPS3 (pay award pending)

The governors of this highly successful and oversubscribed school seek to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and talented teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. You will be required to teach French to GCSE level, with German and/or Spanish as a desirable second language. This is a part-time post.

St Francis Xavier is a joint RC/CE 11-16 Mixed Comprehensive serving the picturesque market town of Richmond and the surrounding rural area. We are located close to the A1 and A66 and in commutable distance from York, Durham and Teesside. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and are consistently oversubscribed.

Essential skills and experience

• Evidence of successful experience/teaching practice as a classroom teacher of MFL
• To have knowledge of and confidence in the use of pupil performance data
• To have a good understanding of MFL, both its teaching and assessment.

• Ability to make lessons active, lively and focussed on pupil needs

• Willingness to participate in extra curriculum activities within MFL, including participation/organisation of Language trips.
• To be able to work with other adults both inside and outside of the classroom
• To be able to set clear objectives and targets for pupils, developing teaching sequences that show an ability to meet pupils’ academic needs
• To be able to use positive behaviour management systems to ensure pupils’ behaviour is conducive to learning
