Midday Meals Supervisor job summary

City Academy Whitehawk is a vibrant two form entry school, proudly serving its East Brighton community. We are a Good school with an Outstanding Early Years (Ofsted 2018).

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Midday Supervisors to work as part of our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidates will be required to work from Midday to 1pm - Monday to Friday (term time only).

This role involves the supervision of children eating school or packed lunches whilst keeping the canteen clean and tidy. When the children are not eating you will be expected to supervise them both indoors and in the playground. You must be willing to engage with children in play activities and oversee group games in the playground. You may also be asked to supervise small groups of children indoors for alternative play.

Positive behaviour at lunchtimes is essential to productive learning in our afternoon session and our Midday Supervisors play an important part in ensuring this is achieved. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a range of behaviour strategies and have experience in working with children of various ages from 3 to 11 years old.

Basic first aid is an advantage – training will be given if necessary.

  • Respectful, polite and engaged children who greatly value their school and learning.
  • A proven record of exceptional welfare and pastoral support.
  • Excellent Professional Development opportunities.
  • Energetic, skilled and supportive colleagues.
  • A skilled and committed SLT, and a team of staff, who are devoted to improving outcomes for all children and all staff.
  • A culture of support and collaboration through our established and effective sponsor, Aurora Academies Trust.

As part of our employment package our staff have access to the Aurora Advantage scheme which provides many benefits including an On Demand GP, access to wellbeing services, high street discounts and a Cycle to Work scheme.
