Midday Supervisor Assistant job summary

St Matthew’s are looking for a Midday Supervisor (MDSA) to join our lunchtime team.

Our lunches are staggered between 11:30am and 1:15pm and you would work 1 hour during this period, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Main responsibilities are supporting children in the hall whilst eating their lunch. There may also be some opportunities to support outside play.

As a large school, St Matthew’s can offer you a Midday team to work within led by an experienced team leader.

While St Matthew’s is a large primary school, and that appeals to some and not to others, it has a calm, personal and happy atmosphere. We are a big school with small community habits and pride ourselves on everyone’s well-being is a cornerstone of our ethos. The sense of being in an ambitious, supportive family is often commented on by children, parents and staff alike.

What do you ask from you?

  • You're friendly and engaging with our children

  • You can communicate in good English with our children and wider school team

  • You are reliable and have good timekeeping

What we will give you in return:

  • Onsite parking

  • An SLT team who are active in the school and not afraid to get stuck in

  • Lots of extra-curricular activities and trips for the children

  • Progression pathways

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

  • As well as your usual: CPD etc.

So if you are looking to start your career in school, this is a wonderful opportunity to start work in a school, many of our previous MDSA’s have gone on to become Teaching Assistants in school.

Or maybe you are winding down to retire and still want to work a few hours a week.

Whatever your situation, we’d love to hear from you, so apply now and take the next step to becoming part of our St Matthew’s team.

This role is for 1 hour per week between the hours of 11:30am-1:15pm, term time only on a fixed term contract to 31st August 2024 initially.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). CVs will not be accepted for any posts based in schools.

St Matthew’s Primary School is a popular, oversubscribed and happy school full of enthusiastic and well behaved children eager to have fun learning. We are a well-resourced and energetic school which is well supported by parents, governors and the wider community.

Alongside our mainstream provision we host a Behaviour Provision on behalf of the Central Area Partnership (CAP), made up of nine schools. This provision supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs that can make full time mainstream education difficult for them. The aim of the provision is to provide an environment, pastoral and educational experience that keeps them moving forward in their learning but focuses specifically on their personal, social and emotional development.
