Mini Bus Driver job summary

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Planning the daily route from the Academy to students’ home addresses

  • To perform daily safety checks of the minibus, including oil, water and other levels as necessary.

  • To ensure that the minibus is kept clean and tidy.

  • To make the necessary arrangements for the servicing of the vehicle at appropriate times.

  • To complete paperwork as required.

  • Attending meetings and training as required.

  • The postholder must at all times carry out his or her responsibilities with due regard to the Authority’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

  • Work at all times within the code of requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act.

  • The postholder must also undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post, as required.

Person Specification: Qualifications:

Basic literacy and numeracy

Safeguarding training is desirable


Experience (preferred but not essential):

  • Previous driving experience, D1 on license is essential

  • Experience of working with children

  • First aid certificate


Skills and Abilities:

  • Driving license with no more than three endorsement points and held for more than two years

  • A sound knowledge of theory and application of the Highway Code

  • Medically fit to drive

  • Able to floor the Trust’s safeguarding procedures and recognise when to report concerns

  • Effective communication skills

  • Able to maintain accurate written records

  • Able to carry out basic vehicle maintenance

  • Self motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Professional, tactful and sensitive

  • Patient, friendly and polite approach to work

  • Acceptance of different attitudes, working as part of a team
