What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a suitable experienced person to safely support and drive the academy’s students to and from sports fixtures and other occasional events. The majority of the transport will be required in the afternoon from 2pm.

The role involves driving school sports teams and occasionally other student groups to other schools in Sussex and some wider SE locations for after school fixtures in the school minibus. The time commitment will depend on the schedule of matches, prior notice will be given, but the successful candidate will need to be flexible. The successful candidate will work alongside a teacher at all times.

This job is open to applicants aged 25+ who have held a full licence for at least 4 years.

The successful candidate must have a clean current driving licence including at least category D1. Training is provided and you will be required to undertake and pass a short qualification to gain a Minibus Driver Permit. If you already hold a Minibus Driver Permit with West Sussex you will not be required to retake the qualification until expiry. Experience in a similar role or working with young people would be advantageous. You will be well organised and an excellent timekeeper with great interpersonal skills.

What the school offers its staff

The most important thing you need to know is that Warden Park Secondary Academy is a fantastic school to work in! The academy is very well respected in the local community, has a long tradition for excellence and our students’ outcomes are very strong. Our students are excellent - generally above average ability on intake they have an excellent work ethic, standards of behaviour are very high and they are enthusiastic in their support of the academy evidenced, for example, by the very high numbers who engage in extracurricular activities. You will therefore not be surprised to hear that the academy is significantly oversubscribed for the 300 places on offer in Year 7 each year. Places in our excellent Special Support Centre (SSC), which caters for 24 students with Education Health and Care Plans, are equally sought after.
