Minibus Driver - Zero Hours/Casual Contract job summary
The Forest School, part of the Wellspring Academy Trust, is a generic special school in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
Purpose of the Post
We are looking for a highly competent and conscientious driver to join our team on a casual basis to support our children on local days out and trips. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good communicator, cheerful and calm. The successful applicant will need to be reliable with good timekeeping skills and available during the week, term time only. All visits/students are supervised by our fully trained staff. The purpose of this role is to:
Transport pupils, groups of pupils and staff according to a set daily schedule and throughout the school day
Communicate effectively with children and adults to establish and maintain good working relationships to support children.
Operate school vehicles in a safe and efficient way in line with all relevant laws, legislation, policies and procedures including, for example:
Performing daily safety checks
Ensuring vehicles are safely and securely stored
Ensuring any necessary repairs/concerns are reported
Cleaning and valeting the vehicles
Refuelling vehicles
Reporting issues in a timely manner so they can be rectified promptly
Responsible to: SLT
Employee Supervision: None
What you'll need to succeed:
Must hold a clean full UK Driving Licence.
Must have a minimum of 3 years driving experience and previous experience in a driver role
MIDAS Minibus training (or willingness to undertake). You must have category D1 on your licence
Ability to understand the needs of students with special educational needs
Good time keeping skills
Reliable and conscientious
