Nursery Assistant job summary

About the Role

As a Nursery Assistant, you will work as part of a highly committed team to provide high-quality care, education and support for children and their families. Under the direction of senior staff, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, balanced and age-appropriate learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage

  • Build warm, positive and secure relationships with children

      • Support individual learning needs, including children with SEND
      • Work in partnership with parents, carers, health professionals and other agencies

      • Promote pro-social behaviour using restorative and developmentally appropriate approaches

      • Maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that prioritises children’s wellbeing

      • Contribute to children’s successful transitions into school

      • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality and medication procedures

      • Support students on placement where required

      About You

      We are looking for someone who:

      • Holds a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification

      • Has experience working with children

      • Communicates effectively with children, families and colleagues

      • Can plan purposeful play opportunities that sustain children’s curiosity

      • Understands safeguarding procedures and is committed to maintaining a culture of vigilance

      • Works well as part of a team and builds strong professional relationships

      • Demonstrates a sensitive, inclusive and anti-oppressive approach to working with families

      A paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable.
